Dogali – 1887 The Battle of Dogali took place in 1887, near Massawa, during the early period of Italian expansion in the Horn of Africa. Ethiopian forces, led by Ras Alula, defeated an Italian column, marking an important moment of resistance against colonial ambitions. Dogali became a symbol of Ethiopian military strength and determination before the later Battle of Adwa.
